Christmas Mini Sessions Are Back - and This Year's Setups Might Be My Favorite Yet

If you've been waiting for the right moment to finally get those updated family photos done before the holidays, this is it. Every year I hear from families who mean to book something and then December arrives and the cards never happen. This year, I want to make it easy for you. My Christmas mini sessions are happening at my Bloomington, Illinois studio on November 7th and 8th, and I genuinely cannot wait to show you what I've put together.

Last Year Sold Out — Here's What's Coming This Year

Last year's Christmas minis sold out completely, and the turnaround time was one of the things people loved most. Families walked away with beautiful, polished images in plenty of time to actually use them for Christmas cards. That kind of low-stress experience is exactly what I'm going for again this year.

This year's setups are two of my favorites I've ever offered, and I'm already getting comments from people saying the Garland Arch backdrop might be the most beautiful thing they've seen in my studio. Current clients are excited to come back, and I think you're going to see why the moment you lay eyes on it.

Two Backdrops, One Beautiful Experience

I put a lot of thought into creating setups that feel warm and intentional without being overdone. Here's what you'll get to choose from:

The Paper Chain Setup

This one has a handmade, storybook feel to it. Think paper chains, paper stars, and a simple wooden bench. It's sweet and understated, and it photographs beautifully. If you love a classic look with a little whimsy, this is your backdrop.

The Garland Arch Setup

This is the one people keep commenting on. A seven-foot garland arch with a white bench and hanging ornaments. It's full and lush and festive without feeling overdone. If you want something that really looks like Christmas, this is it.

Both setups are included in the session - you'll see images of each in this post so you can get a feel for which one speaks to you (or maybe you'll love both).

Who These Minis Are Perfect For

Christmas minis work best for immediate families and couples who want updated images that are ready in time for the holidays. If your family has grown, changed, or you simply haven't had photos taken in a while, this is a genuinely simple way to make it happen.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Extended families are welcome, but larger groups would need to book two consecutive session slots to allow enough time

  • Couples - this is a great option for you too. A fresh set of images before the holidays is something you'll be glad you have

  • Families with young kids - fifteen minutes is actually a really manageable window, and I know how to work quickly and get real, genuine moments without making anyone hit a wall

The Details You Need to Know

Here's everything laid out simply:

Why Getting These on the Calendar Actually Matters

I know it can feel like one more thing to figure out before the holidays. But here's what I hear from clients every single year after they come through: they're SO glad they did it. Updated photos of your family, right now, at this exact chapter of your lives, ready in time to send to the people you love - that's a gift that keeps giving long after December.

The version of your family that exists right now is worth documenting. Your kids at this age, in this season, with these personalities. That's what these images will hold onto for you.

Two weeks from session to gallery. Your Christmas cards handled. And a set of images you'll genuinely love.
